Farm business loans
& machinery finance.

Buy equipment, invest in your farm or bridge the gap between seasonal costs and income. We help Irish farming businesses compare term loans and asset finance through specialist lenders, with machinery-secured loans also worth exploring in some cases.

Term loans for your farm

For working capital, improvements and the next stage of your farming business.

  • Limited company, sole trader and partnership accounts can be considered
  • Cover feed, fertiliser, wages and other seasonal costs
  • Spread the cost of farm improvements with agreed monthly repayments
  • For unsecured term loans: at least 12 months trading and one year’s accounts
  • Annual turnover of €100,000 or more, a net profit and no recent missed payments

Tractor & farm equipment finance

For eligible machinery and equipment purchases, without paying the full cost upfront.

  • Hire purchase or leasing for suitable new or used machinery
  • Tractors, loaders, trailers and other agricultural equipment
  • A supplier quote helps us compare lender options
  • Repayment terms depend on the equipment and your business
  • A term loan may cover costs outside an equipment-finance agreement

Loans secured against machinery

In some cases, machinery your farm already owns may support a secured loan.

  • Considered case by case, rather than a standard offer
  • The lender will assess the machinery’s value, age and condition
  • Ownership and any existing finance need to be checked
  • Your farm’s cash flow still needs to support the repayments
  • Machinery used as security may be at risk if repayments are not met

Finance is subject to lender assessment. Unsecured term loans are not registered against property or business assets, but some lenders ask directors or business owners for a personal guarantee. Asset finance and machinery-secured loans have different requirements and security arrangements.

Finance that fits how your farm operates

You do not have to change your business structure to enquire. We can look at limited company, sole trader and partnership accounts.

Tell us what you want to fund, when your main income comes in and what repayments would be manageable. That gives us a clearer picture than treating every farm the same.

For general farm investment and working capital, see our term-loan options. For a specific machinery purchase, asset finance may be the better fit.

Common questions

Do I need to run my farm as a limited company?

No. Limited company, sole trader and partnership accounts can all be considered for farm term loans. The lender will look at the accounts, recent bank statements and whether the repayments fit your business.

Can a term loan help with seasonal farm costs?

Yes. A term loan may help with working capital, inputs or improvements when costs arrive before income. For unsecured term loans, you need at least 12 months trading, one year’s accounts, annual turnover of €100,000 or more, a net profit and no recent missed payments.

Can I finance a used tractor or other farm machinery?

Suitable new or used farm machinery can be considered for hire purchase or leasing. Send us a supplier quote with details of the equipment’s age and condition so we can look at the options.

Can I borrow against machinery I already own?

In some cases, yes. A lender may consider a loan secured against existing machinery after checking its value, ownership, condition and any finance already attached to it. It is assessed case by case, and the machinery may be at risk if repayments are not met.
